Multiplying and dividing signed numbers is easy. We just have a few simple rules that must be memorized.
Pos x Pos = Pos
Pos x Neg = Neg
Neg x Neg = Pos
To summarize, multiplying same signs gives a positive answer. Multiplying opposite signs gives a negative answer. The numbers themselves don't matter. Just multiply them and then determine the sign of your answer based on these three rules.
These rules are exactly the same for division. Just remember that they are the same.
Don't get confused. These rules do not apply when adding and subtracting. You have to follow the procedures that you learned in those lessons.
You will have much more practice with these concepts as we learn more math.
