Lesson 47: Adding and Multiplying Even and Odd Numbers
This easy lesson discusses some important rules that always apply when adding and multiplying even and odd numbers. Studying these rules will help you check your math when you do mental calculations.
Addition Properties
- Even + Even = Even
- Even + Odd = Odd
- Odd + Odd = Even
The above properties hold true for subtraction as well.
Multiplication Properties
- Even x Even = Even
- Even x Odd = Even
- Odd x Odd = Odd
If you ever forget these rules, just make a simple example for yourself using 1 as an odd number, and 2 as an even number.
