Lesson 44: Word Problems Involving More Than One Operation
In this lesson you'll get some additional practice converting word problems into standard notation, and then solving them. These problems all require two different operations to solve.
These problems all require two different operations. Try to solve each one on your own using all of the knowledge that you learned so far, then check your answer to see if it is correct. If you are not able to do these problems easily and accurately, first review all of the previous lessons, and if you still need help, use the link below to ask me a question.
1. Britney has 738 baseball cards, but within the last year she damaged 30 of them, lost 100 of them, and gave away 8 of them. She would like to give the good-condition cards that she has left to 10 of her friends. How many cards will each friend get? Answer: 60
2. Paris wants to make gift bags for nine of her friends. Each gift bag is going to have three pieces of jewelry, two bottles of perfume, and twelve grape flavored jelly beans. How many items does she need in total to fill all of the bags? Answer: 153
In later lessons you will have much more practice with word problems of this type.
