Lesson 38: Introducing Right Angles
The study of angles comes up again and again in math. This lesson introduces one of the most common: the right angle.
Don't forget to watch the embedded video clip for this lesson at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to read the embedded video information and disclaimer.
Think
about a corner of a rectangle or square. The two lines that form
each corner form a right angle. It has
an angle measurement of 90 degrees. This needs to be memorized. Later you'll learn more
about right angles, but for now just remember these facts. A
square corner in any shape is called a right angle.
Any two lines that intersect in this way also form a right angle, even if
they are not part of an enclosed shape. An example of this is
shown at left.
