Lesson 31: Defining Congruence
Many test questions are designed simply to see if you know the definition of the word congruent. This lesson explains.

In math, we use the term congruent to mean "exact same size and exact same shape". Take a look at the sample pictures below.

You can see that as long as two objects are the same size and the same shape, they are called congruent. It is OK if one of them is rotated. They will still be congruent. Shapes that are not the same size, or not the same shape, or neither, are not congruent.
Make sure that you memorize and understand the meaning of the term congruent.
